At the Health Equity Research On Neuro-trauma (HERON) Lab, we’re proud to partner with the Community Brain Injury Program for Children and Youth (CBIPCY) and BC Children’s Hospital Research Institute to advance health equity research in neurotrauma care and outcomes for equity-deserving populations. Our research program focuses on developing evidence-based frameworks to address disparities in neurotrauma prevention, treatment, and recovery among equity-deserving groups of children and adolescents – a comprehensive approach examining social determinants of health, access to care, and patient outcomes across underserved communities.
Led by Dr. Scott Ramsay, PhD, RN, this research initiative aims to provide actionable insights and recommendations to support equitable neurotrauma care delivery and policy development for young people facing systemic barriers to care.
We are grateful to work and learn on the ancestral, unceded, and occupied territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations. We support their inherent rights to these lands and acknowledge the Coast Salish Peoples as stewards and caretakers of these territories since time immemorial.
